Year 12 Studio Arts students recently visited the Picasso Century exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. For the Unit 4 Studio Arts Study Design, students are studying how exhibitions are put together. After viewing the exhibition, where not just Picasso works were exhibited but also his contemporaries such as Miro, Dali, Henri Matisse and Dorothea Tanning, students sat through a presentation.
The designer, curator, conservator, and a member from the NGV marketing team spoke to students about how they put the exhibition together. The Year 12s will use this information for an upcoming SAC and their end-of-year exam.
For some students it was the first time they have seen a world-famous art piece in person, and all said it was a wonderful experience. Picasso famously is quoted for saying; “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up”.
There is no doubt the 2022 WRSC Studio Arts class will remain in some capacity, artists.
